Fairtrade Fortnight 2026
Monday 21st September – Sunday 4th October 2026
Fairtrade Fortnight is an annual campaign that raises awareness of all things Fairtrade.
This year, we are highlighting the importance of Fair Pay. Many farmers are still paid less than it costs to produce their crops; including the people who grow our tea, coffee, chocolate and bananas. Items that people across Wales buy and enjoy every day. Fairtrade tackles unfair pay through minimum prices and the Fairtrade Premium, giving farmers protection when markets drop and helping build stronger, more resilient communities.
Martin’s story

Martin is a coffee farmer and Assistant Manager at Mutira Farmers Cooperative Society in Kenya.
Martin and his community are concerned about how climate change is making coffee growing far less reliable as an income. The global system often leaves farmers with very few options to adapt. For every £3 spent on a cup of coffee, producers typically receive around 4p. And only 8% of the UKs millions cups of coffee is Fairtrade – meaning many farmers are still exposed to volatile prices and climate risk.
Fairtrade guarantees:
- Minimum price
- Additional premium
- Environmental protection
- Safe and fair working conditions
- Democratic decision making
There are around 2 million Fairtrade farmers and workers across 70 countries, with over 37k Fairtrade products being sold in over 140 countries.
This Fairtrade Fortnight, we’re asking the public to:
- Buy Fair Trade products from their local Fair Trade businesses and grocery shops.
- Attend a Fairtrade Fortnight event hosted by your local community (see link to events above).
- Share with others the importance of Fair Trade and why everyone deserves Fair Pay.
- Ask their local MSs to show their commitment to Fair Trade.
